The 2010 Bislett Games are history, and everybody present at the sold-out stadium was presented a memorable evening of world class track and field sport. Where to start? With Asafa Powell`s 9.72 seconds and the wind which blew just a little too fast for making his time legal? With the third victory (all in even years) of home town hero Andreas Thorkildsen? Or with the fantastic 800m thriller between David Rudisha and Abubaker Kaki which secured a new stadium record?
The first highlight in this year`s Diamond League competition, however, was created by the Kenian Milcah Chemos Cheiywa who ran a Meeting record and a World lead time. Blanka Vlasic (CRO) won the high jump competition against Chaunte Howard-Lowe in a duel which ended up over 2 meters, and Nadine Mueller won her first ever discus throw competition at this level.
What more is there to say? The IAAF Diamond League Bislett Games meet in Oslo was a hugh success. The stadium was sold out. What does this mean? Well, in view of the 2011 edition, you should apply right away for your tickets!
