07.06.2012 - Usain Bolt to compete at the ExxonMobil Bislett Games – Samsung Diamond League

The world’s greatest sports star will run at the Bislett Stadium for the third year in a row. Usain Bolt will return to Oslo, Norway and the ExxonMobil Bislett Games on Thursday 13 June 2013 where he will be competing in the 200metres.

The meeting in Oslo is the sixth of the 14 meets in the world athletics series, the Samsung Diamond League. more

The former 100m World Record holder, Asafa Powell, will be competing at the ExxonMobil Bislett Games on 7 June, 2012, giving the Bislett audience the chance to watch the two men go head to head only a few weeks ahead of the Olympics in London.

The triple World record holder, Usain Bolt, will be competing in the ExxonMobil Bislett Games on 7th June in Oslo, Norway in the 100 metres.
The meeting in Oslo is one of 14 Samsung Diamond League meets in 2012 and the first in which Bolt has confirmed his participation.

There were almost five hours of World class athletic action to watch at the ExxonMobil Bislett Games in Oslo yesterday evening. Some of the finest athletes disappointed because of external factors like the wind or because of their personal performances.

04.06.2010 - Women’s Review: Cheywa, Müller, Vlasic in the spotlight

It was almost a wire-to-wire victory: Milcah Chemos Cheywa’s (KEN) time of 9:12.66 minutes in the 3000m steeplechase was the first exclamation mark at this year’s ExxonMobil Bislett Games (just 35 minutes before Asafa Powell celebrated his fourth victory in Oslo).

The African athlete was in the lead round after round and brought home a great first place with a great time. The attack of her fellow countrywomen Gladys Jerotich Kipkemoi (9:16.21/SB) and Lydia Jebet Rotich (9:18.03/PB) came too late.

Excitement at today’s Diamond League ExxonMobil Bislett Games in Oslo went on until the very last competition. In front of a sold out stadium, the world’s finest track and field athletes showed their strength.

The first winner of a Diamond League event at the Bislett Games in Oslo today is Nadine Müller from Germany. The 24-year-old athlete, who has already reached 67.

78m this year, threw the discus 63.93m, winning in front of Zaneta Glanc (POL/62.16m/SB) and Aretha D. Thurmond (USA) who achieved 61.80m. An interesting side-fact: Cuba’s Barrios, the winner of Doha’s competition, failed her first three attempts and had to quit the competition. more

What do diamonds and strawberries have in common? There were both an issue at the traditional strawberry party just 24 hours before the Bislett Games in Oslo.

At this party, in fact, high jump star Chaunte Howard-Lowe (USA) said: “I don’t want to be a fluke – my goal is to be consistently on top and to win the diamond.” As we all know, diamonds and girls are best friends, “and I want to reunite with my best friend! more

03.06.2010 - Spotlight 800 meters: at a sweet Strawberry Party, a sweet look at tomorrow’s clash

Kenia’s David Lekuta Rudisha and Sudan’s Abubakir Kaki were supposed to attended a Press Conference during the traditional Strawberry Party at Bislett Game’s eve, but the two 800m super-stars preferred to rest and left the conference table to other main actors of the meeting and, of course, to the sweet, red fruits.



Even without the two African athletes, the 800m were subject for debate. Why not? The clash between Rudisha (pb: 1:42.01 in Rieti 2009) and Kaki (pb: 1:42.69 in Oslo 2008) has the prospect of a fantastic race. “Since 2008, we have expected these two guys to dominate the world scene”, Rudisha’s manager James Templeton said. more
