Powell to challenge Bolt at Bislett on 7 June

The former 100m World Record holder, Asafa Powell, will be competing at the ExxonMobil Bislett Games on 7 June, 2012, giving the Bislett audience the chance to watch the two men go head to head only a few weeks ahead of the Olympics in London.

“These two Jamaicans are the best known personalities in athletics at the moment and we are very proud and excited that they are both coming to Oslo in an Olympic year,” says Meeting Director Steinar Hoen.

Asafa Powell secured the overall 100m Samsung Diamond League title last year and his season’s best of 9.78 was the second fastest time in the world. Only Usain Bolt was faster with 9.76. We really look forward to seeing the two fastest men in the world in 2011 race each other at Bislett on 7 June.

The first Samsung Diamond League meeting takes place in Doha, Qatar on 8 May. The Oslo meeting is the fifth of a total of 14 meetings in the top World Athletics Series.
